In all states it is a crime to advertise in ways that are deceptive, and many states have taken this to mean that the truth must be up front and clear. Just because they may mention in the fine print, buried somewhere in the middle of a lengthy user agreement that the site is really just for fantasy and not intended to be a place to actually meet people isn't necessarily relevant. What counts is what they are saying or claiming on page one, in the bold print. If the two contradict each other it is the bold print that counts and it also proves the crime and/or the intent to commit crime. The great thing about this is that it requires very little police work. Everything needed to obtain the conviction is supplied by the accused in a nicely written information, the Terms of Service that they wrote. Yes, the Terms of Service is the noose around their necks so start pulling! They have screwed themselves this time. |
